Mike,
Would you please follow up on this one.
Same problem here with large customer base (>10.000 seats).
XP/Office Pro can see .zip in "multiple upload"
Vista/Office Standard cannot see .zip in "multiple upload."
XP/Office Pro can see .zip in "single upload"
Vista/Office Standard can see .zip in "single upload."
Single upload uses real explorer (local appl.) view
Multiple upload uses view on files in the browser.

Multiple Doc upload - no zip files?
When I need to upload a ZIP file to a shared document library the only way
it shows up is if I upload the document singlely. If you need to upload
multiple zip documents they do not show in the upload window.
Is there any way to get the multiple document upload window to show all
available documents or at least zip documents as well?

Hi Mike,
I'm using WSS 3.0. I noticed it last night when I was attempting to upload
files to my home server sharepoint site. I then checked my work Sharepoint
site when I got in this morning it has the same behavior.

Hi Larry,
I have just tested this and was able to upload multiple zip files. However
what I did spot was that if you access your site from the server (e.g. via
Remote Desktop) you do not get the Upload Multiple Documents option, only the
Upload Document option. I assume this is because of IE Enhanced Security
Configuration which is enabled on the server.
I'm sure I have spotted a few other menu items that do not appear if you
access SharePoint sites from the server, but have not bothered to note them
down. Perhaps I should.
Cheers,
John

That clears that one up for you, but I didn't read in Larry's message that
he wasn't *seeing* Upload Multiple just that it wasn't working. Maybe I was
wrong.

Mike,
I *am* seeing the multiple upload option on my workstation computer and I
have Office 2003 installed on the workstation. The workstation (in fact all
workstations that have access to the Intranet and have Office 2003) is not
able to see zip documents in the Upload Multiple documents window.
You are correct in that my server does not have Office 2003 installed.
John, I am not using remote desktop to access the Sharepoint site. I'm
connecting via the intranet using, in this case, http://pssflserver to
access the Sharepoint site. I am using IE7 to access the site though, I'll
have to install Firefox and see if this is a browser related problem.
Both of you, thanks for taking the time to answer.

Mike,
I wonder if this isn't a Vista related situation. I have 2 Vista
workstations here at work and I use Vista at home and none of them can see
zip files in the multiple document upload. However, checking my XP machines
that are using IE7, they have no trouble seening the zip files within the
multiple document window.
I made the 'assume' mistake when neither my web partner nor I could see the
zip files in the multiple document window and then confirmed it on my home
machine where I have a version of Sharepoint runing on my Home Server beta
system. I never tried it on any XP stations.
Anyway, can someone else with Vista check this out and see if they have a
similiar problem?

Hi Guys,
I did a few tests:
- Win XP & Office 2003 - can upload multiple zip files
- Win XP & Office 2007 - can upload multiple zip files
- Vista & Office 2007 - zip files do not show up in the Upload Multiple
Documents window
Cheers,

Mike, I assume you'll test this also and report it if necessary? I would,
but I'm not sure where to report it.

I see the excapt same behavior as John: XP works with Office 2003 / 2007,
Vista does not (only tested with Office 2007). It looks as Vista related.
